Concerts in Europe
Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 07:13PM Prost / salute! I've just returned from Europe, where I performed chamber music by Stravinsky, Ades, Dohnanyi, and Copland with Ensemble ACJW, the phenomenal violinist Daniel Hope, the brilliant Danish String Quartet, and other exceptional European musicians at the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Germany, and a piano duet program with Greg Anderson in the Concerti del Chiostro series in Italy. It was a whirlwind trip, filled with thrilling musicmaking as well as incredible sights, friends, and food.
Here are a few images from my travels:
The palatial Grand Hotel Heiligendamm on the shores of the Baltic Sea, my (very deluxe) residence for the duration of the Festspiele:
The hotel ballroom where we gave our first concert of four; note the gorgeous Hamburg Steinway and the set-up for the Dohnanyi Sextet:
The glorious ceiling of the St. Petri-Kirche in Benz, where Concert No. 3 was held:

Pizza in Roma ... the real deal. Buon appetito!

The absolutely breathtaking coast of Positano:
Anderson & Roe recital in Galatina (on my birthday!):

Cutting the cake at our midnight meal:

Grazie / danke to all the fantastic people who made my European excursion so fulfilling and unforgettable! EJR
