Jazz in Miami
Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 10:55PM Tomorrow night (Friday, January 11 at 8:30 PM) Elizabeth appears at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami, alongside legends of the jazz world, including Bobby Mcferrin, Chick Corea, Shelly Berg, Terence Blanchard, Dave Brusin, and Mark O'Connor, in a program celebrating the intersection between jazz and classical music. As a representative of the "classical" genre (and the sole female soloist), Elizabeth will be featured in Shelly Berg's sweeping suite for classical/jazz piano and orchestra, Incandescent, Iridescent, Effervescent; a duet of Gershwin's timeless classic, The Man I Love; a classical/jazz version of CPE Bach's Solfeggietto; and a rousing finale based on Deodato's funky reworking of Strauss' Also Sprach Zarathustra, with all the artists, supported by the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra, sharing the stage.
This special event is part of the 32nd annual YoungArts Week, and it is the first-ever collaboration among four major Miami arts institutions: the Adrienne Arsht Center, the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, Larry Rosen's Jazz Roots, and the National YoungArts Foundation (of which Elizabeth is an alum, as a winner of the 2000 YoungArts Week auditions).
