Spring Rites + Summer Solstice by Elizabeth Roe

As we officially enter summer, Anderson & Roe's Rite of Spring film project continues:

EPISODE 2:

EPISODE 3:

Elizabeth just celebrated the summer solstice with her Decoda colleagues (clarinetist Carol McGonnell, violinist Owen Dalby, violist Meena Bhasin, and cellist Sæunn Thorsteinsdottir) at the Við Djúpið Festival in the charming town of Ísafjörður, located in the west fjords of Iceland. It was a jam-packed week of rehearsals, concerts, workshops, outreach, and galvanizing creative collaboration, thanks to the presence of remarkable Icelandic artists (including composer Daníel Bjarnason) and the supportive involvement of the Ísafjörður community.Over the course of the festival, Elizabeth performed Thomas Adès' Catch, Robert Schumann's Märchenerzählungen and Sonata No. 1 in A minor for Violin and Piano, György Kurtág's Hommage à R. Sch., Johannes Brahms' Piano Quartet No. 1 in G minor, Lou Harrison's Grand Duo for Violin and Piano, and several new Icelandic compositions. For photos and impressions of the trip, visit the blog.

Rite of Spring 100 by Elizabeth Roe

100 years ago today, The Rite of Spring, Igor Stravinsky's revolutionary masterwork, had its legendary, riot-ridden premiere in Paris. Anderson & Roe are paying tribute to the timeless power and resonance of this work with a sprawling music video project of the entire 35-minute composition. Here is the opening episode (of ten):

Winter Recap / Spring Forward by Elizabeth Roe

After a very busy winter of concerts and travels across the US (see highlights below), the Anderson & Roe Piano Duo will return to its proverbial roots, with performances in the duo's "birthplace" of New York City and also in Hartford (the midway point between Elizabeth and Greg's former residences in Northampton and New Haven, respectively). They will perform in the Hartford Symphony Orchestra's subscription series May 9-12, with Elizabeth featured in Gershwin's classic Jazz Age paean to New York, Rhapsody in Blue. The following week, the A&R Duo will appear in a special event for the Young Patrons of Lincoln Center.
