EPISODE 3:

Elizabeth just celebrated the summer solstice with her Decoda colleagues (clarinetist Carol McGonnell, violinist Owen Dalby, violist Meena Bhasin, and cellist Sæunn Thorsteinsdottir) at the Við Djúpið Festival in the charming town of Ísafjörður, located in the west fjords of Iceland. It was a jam-packed week of rehearsals, concerts, workshops, outreach, and galvanizing creative collaboration, thanks to the presence of remarkable Icelandic artists (including composer Daníel Bjarnason) and the supportive involvement of the Ísafjörður community.Over the course of the festival, Elizabeth performed Thomas Adès' Catch, Robert Schumann's Märchenerzählungen and Sonata No. 1 in A minor for Violin and Piano, György Kurtág's Hommage à R. Sch., Johannes Brahms' Piano Quartet No. 1 in G minor, Lou Harrison's Grand Duo for Violin and Piano, and several new Icelandic compositions. For photos and impressions of the trip, visit the blog.
